1990 Redux
It occurs to me that this past weekend was mostly devoted to the year 1990. First, there was the whole gymnastics movie thing, and then I had a reunion with my Spanish exchange-student-sister Sara, from Santander, Spain (she's living in Mexico City for now and came for a visit). Here we are, then and now:
I went over to Spain in seventh grade as part of an exchange program and cried my eyes out for the first week, then had a great time the week after that (I discovered Spanish food). Sara came over here the next fall and hated the food, understandably, but discovered American-style mall shopping (you can tell that her fashion sense is a good deal more developed than mine. Gee, thanks. Yeah, my look has always been about three years behind schedule. Did you notice the socks? I tried for ages to get the right slouchy white late-80s socks and roll my pants up the right way...never quite made it work, though (and yes, I should have progressed to early grunge by this time, but no). I look like a court jester. Apparently I loved that shirt, too -- I found another photo of me in it at the gym. So sad.

I don't remember that photo of you and Sara at all! What a great picture. Can you send a link to Sara? I will try to dig up some more gymnastics photos of you. You really were quite impressive.

No, I like the shirt. It's the white slouchy socks over the pants that got to me.
And the smug look reminds me of Keith, for some reason.
